Life must always be swell if you’re Taylor Swift. You’re pretty, tall, slender, you can sing, and you have loads of money in your bank account.

You get to shop all day and hang out with famous people all night. Yes, it must certainly feel good to be Taylor Swift.

Speaking of the blonde cutie, she was spotted shopping at the new Steven Alan store in New York City yesterday. We didn’t instantly recognize her because she was sporting a new do — a shoulder-length bob with side-swept bangs.

The look was sophisticated and modern and quite a departure from her usual retro-girly style. In fact, the haircut was definitely an indication that Taylor’s sartorial preferences may have evolved.

Her outfit was a classic combination of coat and jeans, but she infused a little bit of toughness into the equation by sporting rugged brown lace-up boots instead of the usual flats or oxfords.

She added a little extra by wrapping a green tartan scarf around her neck. Simply put, we saw a different kind of Taylor Swift yesterday.

What do you think of Taylor’s latest street style? Do you approve?

We like how she added a green scarf to break up the purple and beige separates. We’re not very happy with the Frye boots, but she made them “happen,” nonetheless.

The designer of her scarf, while common in pattern, has not yet been identified. But just in case you fancy her look, here’s a great alternative from Ralph Lauren that will do the trick.

This piece won’t clash with beige and purple, but it will complement it. It is also much lighter in texture, so you can wear it this spring:

Wear this scarf with a beige coat and purple or dark brown skinny jeans to get Taylor’s look. Don’t forget to style your hair similarly. And, of course, wear red lipstick just like Taylor’s. Here’s a combo we put together using the scarf above:
