Kerry Washington is pregnant! Who’d have thought, right?

Just earlier this month, we saw the Scandal beauty at Variety’s 5th Annual Power of Women event held in Beverly Hills, and she did not look 4-months pregnant — at all. It was most probably because of the dress. She chose a really good silhouette that hid the growing bump.

Speaking of hiding, Kerry seems to be a pro at keeping secrets, yes? Last June, she got married and we were completely clueless up until the announcement. Obviously, this month, she surprised everyone (again) with the pregnancy.

Although now that we think about it, she did look somewhat “swollen” when we spotted her at LAX early this week. The actress was dressed in an all-black attire that was not exactly her most fashionable.

She wore sweatpants and an oversized cardi but made sure to put on something elegant by wrapping a printed scarf around her neck. The extra did a great job of camouflaging her growing belly too.

Judging by her choice of footwear (sneakers), you could tell she wanted to be as comfy as possible.

You have to admit, she chose her add-ons with care, and she appointed them really well. Each piece (including the dog) had a purpose — sunnies to shield her eyes from the cameras, a pooch in a really luxe quilted bag to distract people from looking at her tummy, and a pretty scarf to elevate her style and hide the growing belly.

Now that Kerry’s expecting, what do you think of her mommy-to-be plane-ride style? Do you think she sacrificed fashion for comfort? It’s something a lot of women do when they’re expecting.

Sure, she could have worn something more attractive than sweatpants, but you have to hand it to the lady, she looked pretty neat for someone who is 4 months pregnant. The choice to wear black from head to toe kept her looking classy, and we like how she threw on a scarf for added drama. Adding the accessory really made a difference.

To our fashionable mommy readers, how did you dress up for a plane ride when you were pregnant? Do you always keep a scarf handy?

As you know, scarves are great accessories because they’re so light and versatile. You can never have too many scarves if you ask us. You can collect them, use them, and preserve them until your daughters and nieces learn to appreciate them as well.

We have yet to ID Kerry’s black and white neck warmer, but if you like it, you can always grab a similar piece that won’t cost you as much. These scarves from Kate Spade will give you the same standout appeal without the corresponding jaw-dropping price tags:
