Leave it to Kate Moss to always inject rocker edge flavor to her outfits. At the Rimmel anniversary party yesterday, the seasoned supermodel wore an all-black attire of skinny jeans, studded blouse, and suede boots. Not content with the decoration on her shirt, Kate threw on a black velvet cape embellished with micro studs all over.

Even her rockstar hubby, Jamie Hince, took a cue. He wore black from head to toe and styled the outfit with a printed scarf around his neck (a la Matt Goss; or perhaps Matt got tips from Jamie).

So what do you think of Kate’s Rimmel-party style?
Take note, she rocked velvet like it was a cotton. Her matching cape and top would probably look a little over the top on anyone else, but on Kate, well, let’s just say she was able to carry the combo like it was meant to be. In fact, she actually managed to make studded velvet look darn cool.
What about you, do you think you can wear Kate’s outfit and look cool while doing so?
We have yet to find out where Kate scored her velvet studded cape (and matching studded blouse), but just in case you want one yourself, what you can do is grab a classic black cape then sprinkle it with hotfix studs all over; ergo, do some DIY. Try these options:
Spiewak Beaumont Cape, $110 (was $218)
Via Spiga Patent Leather Trim Cape, $105 (was $150)
Of course, if your goal is to copy the whole outfit to a T, what you can do is purchase some black velvet (or velveteen) fabric and create the cape and blouse from scratch. Which DIY project do you feel like doing?
