Cher Lloyd Shows Us the Right Way to Wear That Boring Black Scarf

Cher Lloyd was spotted looking fall-fabulous yesterday. The X-Factor alum made an appearance at the Empire State Building, and took the time to pose for the press. Cher wore a layered outfit that was not only season-appropriate, but laid-back glam as well. She took a risk by mixing metallic bronze (sweater) and dark green leather (pants) together. On paper that combination may sound over the top, but Cher was able to get away with it unscathed. In fact, she looked extremely chic as she paired the combo with black extras — from a black brimmed hat and scarf, to black nail polish and boots.

Need a tip on how to wear your classic (and boring) black scarf?

Take a hint from Cher Lloyd and pair the piece with standout separates. You can copy Cher’s look by going for a metallic sweater, or you can mix the scarf with a top or jumper that comes with a bold pattern or print. For example, these leopard and camou tops will look great with black skinnies, boots, and a black scarf. For added drama, cap off the attire with a cool hat and an even cooler pair of sunnies:
